National Heart and Lung Institute Starting Salary: £35,747 per annum (inclusive of London Allowance) This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and well motivated Physiotherapist to gain research experience, working on an MRC funded, interventional clinical trial, investigating muscle weakness in patients with COPD. The post is based in the Muscle Laboratory at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Imperial College London. You will have particular responsibility for recruitment and day to day assessment of patients for the clinical trial. This will include peripheral muscle strength and endurance testing, physical activity monitoring, incremental shuttle walk testing, quality of life assessment and assisting in quadriceps muscle biopsies. You will also have the opportunity to engage with the Hospital's Advanced COPD service and its active pulmonary rehabilitation program. You should have MCSP and be HPC registered and must be able to demonstrate substantial respiratory post registration experience and previous experience in managing patients with respiratory disease. The ability to work independently is a key part of the role. The post is very well supported and research experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
