Welcome to the ACPRC Residential Writing Retreat
We are delighted to announce the first ACPRC residential writing retreat. This aims to provide members with dedicated time, space and mentorship to focus on academic writing.
We would like to encourage applications from all members who feel that they would benefit from a separate space to facilitate their writing, regardless of their writing experience.
Key details
Dates: 8th November 2024 7pm – 10th November 2024 5pm
Location: Gladstone’s Library, Flintshire, North Wales.
Includes: 2 nights’ accommodation, meals and coffee/snacks.
1:1 mentorship for all delegates
Places: 16
Cost: £250
Deadline for applications: 7th August 2024
Outcome: 27th August 2024
Mentorship & writing content
Each delegate will be allocated a nominated mentor to support them with their writing. To optimise writing time during the retreat delegates will have the option of two 30 minute online meetings in the weeks prior to the writing retreat and one 30 minute meeting on each day of the writing retreat.
Delegates will be expected, along with their mentor, to set writing goals. The time during the retreat should be used for writing rather than literature searching, formatting, statistical analysis etc. Examples of what could be written includes: clinical audit, service evaluation, quality improvement project, academic essay, business case, dissertation chapter, research paper or thesis chapter.
Selection criteria
You must be a member of the ACPRC to apply. Please outline in the application form (below) how a facilitated writing retreat would benefit you, along with a brief description of the proposed work.
The following criteria will be applied to prioritise applications
- Applicants need for a separate space to facilitate writing
- Applicants need for academic writing mentorship
- The benefit of the academic work to respiratory physiotherapy (local, regional or national)
Any applicants that are unsuccessful will have the option of joining the waiting list for the next writing retreat.
Financial support
This residential writing retreat has been part subsided, but further financial support for the cost of the retreat and travel is available from the ACPRC Education Support fund https://www.acprc.org.uk/resources/education-support/
