I qualified from the University of Brighton in 1998 have been working as a Paediatric Physiotherapist for 25 years in both respiratory and neuro-disability. In 2014 I joined the team at the Royal Brompton Hospital as a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist in PICU where my special interests are in congenital heart disease, lung ultrasound, ECMO rehabilitation and research. I enjoy using my combined neuro and respiratory skills to treat the children, and their families, holistically. I am always striving to improve myself and ensure that evidence-based practice is at the heart of my clinical role. In 2019, I completed an MSc in Advanced Physiotherapy (Paediatrics) from University College London and am currently studying for a PhD in Clinical Medical Research at Imperial College London (via a National Institute of Health Research Doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship). My research topic is focused on physiotherapy-led lung ultrasound in PICU.
I have presented on courses, at conferences, work as a peer reviewer for relevant journals and am a member of the UK and Ireland Neonatal and Paediatric ECMO working group. I enjoy promoting the physiotherapy profession, particularly in the field of paediatric respiratory physiotherapy and am thrilled to part of the ACPRC committee as Paediatric Champion. In other news, I love a steaming hot cappuccino to get my day started!
